Eric Berndt Tops SK Modifieds At New London-Waterford Speedbowl

Eric Berndt of Cromwell topped the field in the 35-lap SK Modified feature Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. 

It was the 27th career SK Modified victory at the Speedbowl for Berndt, giving him sole possession of sixth place on the division’s all-time win list. He had been tied with Rob Janovic Jr. in the spot. 

Berndt, of Cromwell, joined Timmy Jordan as the second multi-time winner in the division in 2024. Jordan has three wins this season. 

Anthony Flannery of East Hampton was second and Jon Puleo of Branford third. 

Chris Garside of Uncasville won the 50-lap Mini Stock feature.

David Dorr of Gales Ferry was second on the track but was penalized in post race inspection, moving John Bavolacco of Stratford to second and Charles Canfield of East Haven to third.

Nickolas Hovey of Chaplin topped the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature. Evan Bourgeois of East Haddam was second and John O’Sullivan III of Salem was third. 

Doug Curry of Groton topped the 30-lap Late Model feature. Jason Palmer of Berlin was second and Devin Deshaies of Oakland, R.I. was third. 

Al Stone III of Durham extended his all-time record for wins at the track in topping the 25-lap Street Stock feature. It was Stone’s 67th career victory in the division. 

Tyler Chapman of Mystic got his sixth win in nine features this year in the 25-lap Truck feature. Charles Beal of Ledyard was second and Brad Strickland of Uncasville third.

    The bulldog was on rails tonight!! Poor Adam Gada has the worst luck in racing, pops a tire, and into the wall.. Ouch! Street stocks were Great again, and Wow, the Mini’s put on a good show, as well as the trucks.

  2. How come he didn’t get sent to the rear after he put the 94 in the wall wrecking the 51 and 35
