When the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series rolls into the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday, August 10, Belltown Motors and Fowler’s Auto Wrecking both of East Hampton, Connecticut will return as the event’s title sponsors.
Once again, this race is expected to be a showstopper with 31 modified teams registered and a $10,000 winner’s purse on the line.
When reached for comment about coming back for a third year to lend their support for the event, the Flannery family – longtime racers and owners of Belltown Motors and Fowler’s Auto Wrecking – offered the following insight to their involvement:
“We look forward to this race every year not just as a sponsor but as a competitor too. Monaco Ford and the Series directors always put on an amazing show and bring in the best drivers on the east coast. It’s a great way to support my home track and compete in front of full grandstands of fans from all around. We are all very excited to hit the track and watch 30 of the best in the business go to battle.”

Looking forward to this event. But what is a post of mine without a complaint. I don’t like the fact that it’s the speedbowl’s biggest event of the year and they’re leaving out the street stocks and sk lites. I can’t remember if they raced full local divisions in the past. I guess they don’t want it to be a very late night.
Intresting to see they are adopting the “no heats” schedule for weekly cars. I don’t recall seeing that for all of them, only with short fields or double features for a given category. This could have been done due to earlier forcasts, trying to be certain they got it all in. Still works for me!!
