  1. I Think a 35 lap feature would be good for this division, I think radios may even help a lot

  2. A little longer, not much.

    NO RADIOS!!!!

And perhaps penalties for doing stupid. This is a great division to weed out the stupid behaviors.

  3. 25 laps. A few more dollars in the purse. no radios. No pitting. I was originally in favor of pitting but someone schooled me on the cost of such a change. And run them last every night if you are going to start 30 plus cars. I was originally in favor of split fields like the dirt sportsman have in NY. But I dont know how you do that with points and purse distribution. Not sure if there is enough of a rookie or limited experienced drivers to make it entertaining. Plus the Stafford show can run long some nights. I have gone to more Stafford shows this year than years past, and it is primarily because they have been running SKs earlier in the program.

  4. I thonk with the car counts they have it should be 25 laps at least. Give all of them a little more seat time in race conditions hto hbuild their skill set.

  5. Doug Ferraguto says

YES!!! This should be the easiest, most lopsided poll ever in raceday CT history. 30 laps, let them change a tire if one goes flat, allow them to have crew members in the infield. It’s the best division by far, no other division in Connecticut get 30 plus cars every week. It’s the most exciting, and most competitive, and always the closest points race every year as well. Stafford needs to reward these guys for what they bring to the track every week. At the VERY LEAST, they need to give them 30 laps. Please Lisa!

  6. If you increase the number of laps you would have to increase the purse. Something more comparable to the late model purse than to the limited late model purse.

  7. Fil Cerminara says

I also think that both the lights and the street stocks should be able to change a flat tire , it’s really a shame that these guys work their butts off only to get a flat and have to go home

  8. No pitting at all. No changing a flat. It will force them to drive extra careful and not get into situations where a tire can be harmed. The SK Light class is a farm system, teach them at that level to not use the cars as battering rams.

  9. Way back a car could go in the paddock and change a tire. They’d enter and exit from what is now normally considered the exit from the track. A different time for sure with a driver intent on getting to his pit to have his crew change the flat. Pretty hairy at times especially with young inexperienced adrenalin fueled drivers charging past folks a few feet away. In the early 1980’s Street Stock driver Dave Dickman did that very thing and rallied back to win the feature.

Can’t be doing that stuff now and especially at Stafford who are known for managing risks to keep insurance costs in check. That means crews would need to be in the infield which means more time wasted setting up. Moreover it is an entry level modified division not all teams are set up to do that nor should they be expected to.

More laps sounds reasonable but 20 gives the best of teams less time to overtake an underdog trying to get that first win. More laps, more tire wear, spotters, pitting for a flat tire it all adds up to more money and crew which is not part of the model that has been extraordinarily successful for the SK Lights. Why not leave what has been successful beyond all expectations exactly the way it is?

  10. 25 laps and bump the purse 20%.
    No radios.
Teams allowed a tire cart with toe plates & two wrenches, up to 4 spare tires, a jack, and an electric impact gun. Two team members per team in the infield.

  11. No, keep it at 20 laps. If people want to be able to fix a flat tire or run more laps, let them move up to the SK’s as intended. Plenty of them in the division can afford it. This what HAS happened with tons of support divisions over the decades at tracks across the country. Teams who start spending money and don’t want to move up a division just stay there and pester the promoter until they give IN and add laps or let them do more expensive things to the cars. Quite a while ago Oxford had a decent Mini Stock division that was obviously aimed to be the entry level for Saturday nights. But then most of the guys in the Mini Stocks decided they wanted to build what was essentially a full fender version of a Pro 4 Modified. The Oxford promoter wisely said no, but at least one other track in the area said, “Hey, build those cars and come race here” in order to sell pit passes. That was pretty much the end of that version the Oxford Mini Stocks, and I am not sure how many of the more expensive cars 4 cylinder cars that were going be run at the other track were even built or if more than handful still exist.

  12. Why is anyone against radios in the car?

  13. 20 laps are perfect for this division – less money. This division was supposed to introduce new drivers at a lower cost to modified racing – it’s out of hand with teams renting cars and coming in with stacker trailers. – They should pay every position the same – the teams running in the back need the money more than the teams running in the front. Move up to the Sk’s if you want to race for money
