DOVER, Del. – A broken piston spoiled Ryan Preece’s day Saturday in the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet 200 Xfinity Series race at Dover International Speedway.

Preece completed only one lap before parking his Meding’s Seafood/Iron Source Chevrolet, finishing 39th.

“A really tough day for us,” Preece said. “That’s the kind of problem you can’t predict. We’ll rally and move on to Charlotte.”

Preece is 18th in Xfinity driver points.

Erik Jones won the race, and Elliott Sadler has the series point lead.

The next Xfinity race is May 28 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

What a shame for the throngs of RP fans from the northeast who made the trek to Dover only to see him run 1 lap. Tough break dropping from 17th in points to 18th…sure hope it doesn’t cause those heads to stop turning. Not doing too good in the rookie of the year battle right now, but lots of races left to turn it around!

How come I can’t get a Ryan Preece t shirt or hat or die cast car on the Johnny Davis Racing web site? I really want one, are they all sold out??? I’d hate to have to pay 10 times more for Ryan Preece merchandise on ebay, but I sure will if I have to!
