THOMPSON – The busiest day in local racing came to a close Saturday at Thompson Speedway with Corey Barry celebrating.

Barry survived a mid-race skirmish with Brett Gonyaw and came out on top of the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature at the Sunoco World Series at Thompson Speedway Saturday.

It was the second victory of the season at Thompson for Barry, of Plainfield.

Glen Griswold of Vernon was second and Keith Caruso of Millbury, Mass. third.

Barry went by Gonyaw for the lead on lap six. On lap eight contact between the two sent Gonyaw spinning out of second place.

“I’ve got to thank [Gonyaw] for taking care of himself,” Barry said. “He tried wrecking me but he can’t hang so that’s fine.”

Nick Maniatis won the 20-lap North East Mini Stock tour feature.

Chase Dowling of Roxbury won the 22-lap Pro Four Modified feature.

  1. Corey, don’t let your head swell buddy. That looked like a passing move and not a wrecking move. Shows how much you have to learn. I’m sure if Gonyaw wanted to wreck you, that car you have would have been on a flatbed and not headed back to Waterford. And I’m positive I saw Gonyaw do the same move to you during the heat race on Friday and still beat you with a sour engine.

  2. Oh I get it lightsout, same move Woody used on Masse earlier in the evening. Glad the kid was paying attention, LOL………

  3. In my opinion he ran a great clean race, congrats to him!!! Wesley Prucker on the other hand is a complete idiot and has no respect for any other competitor!! He wrecks people and has absolutelly no clue how to drive, just like when he tried to drive a quarter midget!!! See you on the track Wesley!!! Karmas a Bitch!!!

  4. Grey matter says

What Woody did was on a restart. Not the same move Humphry if you understand driving even a little. So glad you had your glasses on to see it. I’m sure lightsout saw both races too.
