  1. OUCH!!!!

The “Almost No Chance” and “Should Stay Home” options are harsh, but true. We all know that there are but a handful of competitive entries, and the rest have no chance. Seeing it this way is harsh. But then, truth is brutal.

“The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.” -Winston Churchill

“All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident”. -Arthur Schopenhauer

“Three things cannot long be hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” -Confucius

  2. Where’s Rocco in the poll? Hirschman? Coming in poll part 2?

  3. Rafter Fan,
Rocco and Hirschman are both on there. Refresh the page, sometimes there’s an issue with all the polls loading because there are so many of them.

    This is fantastic.

  5. I’d like to preface this by saying this is just my “race fan” opinion. This is a pretty interesting poll, although I think there should not be a “should just stay home” option. Any race team that has the ability and desire should participate and chase whatever personal goals and dreams they may have. If the poll determined the car count when all was said and done we’d probably be lucky to have 18 cars! Instead we have over 50! When ‘s the last time you saw 50+ pavement Modifieds in the same category at an event? If you’ve followed Modifieds long enough I would imagine the answer to be in the range of 15-20 years ago! There’s many teams that don’t have a great chance of winning, but we all need to respect and appreciate their efforts to be there; that’s how we fans get to see 50+ Modifieds! Racers, c’mon down! Run what you brung and hope you brung enough!

Adding the 25 lap B MAIN really makes it an old school type event

  7. Me too. The should have stayed home thing is horrible. Some folks are going to all that effort, spending money and to make them feel bad by demeaning their effort serves no constructive purpose.
Here’s the deal. Even if there were no B Main, even if your chances of not making it into the feature are slim to non-existent, even if you are on nobodies radar to accomplish anything on race day this is a happening. It’s a big deal to just be part of a historic show. That plus the personal goals that was mentioned. Goals teams and drivers have we aren’t aware of but every bit as important as winning to the front runners.
You take your shot, have a ball enjoying a once in a lifetime event and at the worst you watch the feature with a cold one and your buddies.
I hope seeing that doesn’t discourage any team from attending.
Thanks to all for making it a historic event.

  8. I did NOT use Just Stay Home Option. I too thought that to be rough.

  9. This I going to be an awesome event.

    Anything can happen.

  10. It was interesting to see the results for each driver, should do this more often. Maybe replace the just stay home with field filler.

  11. Maybe there’s enough response to judge the people judging. Overall not bad in my view. A couple observations.
Calvin Carrol is not the guy he was a couple years ago. He deserved more dark horse support.
Todd Owen a top contender in SK’s always. In the opens he’s usually fast at some point but fades. Top contender support is over stated.
Too much optimism for Silk based on his name. The Horn 50 has no recent experience at Stafford.
Hirschman the favorite. I suppose based on his performances at New Smyrna. Otherwise it’s mostly just his reputation.
Nocella had that 92 rocking way back in February at New Smyrna and he’s won at Stafford. He deserves more top contender support.
Favorites based on familiarity and performance would have to include Rocco which it does. Williams who has won in Stafford opens and been fast on the NWMT at times and why not Dowling. Knows the track and the car has also been fast on the NWMT.
