Winter’s stranglehold on the area means a late start to the sounds of racing motors revving in preparation on track for the start of the local short track season.
Thompson Speedway officials announced Tuesday afternoon that track officials have decided to cancel Saturday’s Test and Tune session.
The session would have marked the first open test of the season for a track on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule. Most Whelen Modified Tour teams were expected to be on hand for the session in preparation for the season opening Icebreaker at Thompson April 11-12.
Thompson Speedway will still be opening the facility for 9 am until noon for drivers to purchase NASCAR licenses and submit car registrations.
The track announced that they will now schedule an open test session for Friday April 10 at the track as part of the Icebreaker weekend.
