Ryan Newman Tops Whelen Modified Tour Practice At New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, N.H. – The outsider who has made himself an insider was on top when it came to NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series star Ryan Newman, a regular with the Whelen Modified Tour when they visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway, topped the field in practice for the series Friday.

Newman led the way in the only Whelen Modified Tour practice Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in preparation for today’s Whelen All-Star Shootout and tomorrows Eastern Propane & Oil 100.

Newman toured the 1.058-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway oval with a fast lap of 132.692 mph.

Five-time series champion Doug Coby of Milford was second fastest in the practice just behind Newman with a fast lap of 132.655 mph.

Justin Bonsignore, the series points leader and winner of four of seven Whelen Modified Tour events this year, was third fastest during the hour and forty minute practice session at 132.535 mph.

Rob Summers of Vernon was fourth fastest 132.319 mph and Jon McKennedy of Chelmsford, Mass. rounded out the top five at 132.200 mph.
