Champions For Charities Fundraiser Event Returns To Stafford Motor Speedway

SMS-LOGO-HOME-PAGE-2012Stafford Motor Speedway officials announced Friday that the Champions for Charities fundraiser karting event will return to the track for the fourth consecutive year in 2014.

On June 27, 11 open-wheeled drivers will compete in a 15-lap event on Stafford’s “Mini-Mile” driving Wild Thing Senior Outlaw Karts.

The event has collectively raised over $150,000 in its first four years. Each driver competes to raise the most money for their charity. The driver who raises the most money for his charity will earn the pole for the event, with the starting lineup set by fundraising efforts completed by each driver.

This year’s Champions for Charities lineup includes:

  • Ryan Preece – Racing for Make-A-Wish Foundation
  • Richie Pallai, Jr. – Racing for Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary
  • David Arute – Racing for #BenWasHere Foundation
  • Ted Christopher – Racing for Racing Against Cancer
  • Doug Coby – Charity to be announced
  • Woody Pitkat – Racing in conjunction with NAPA Auto Parts for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
  • Bob Potter – Racing for Compassion For Cats of New London County
  • Rowan Pennink – Racing for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center
  • Ron Midford – Racing for the Troy Russell Benefit Fund
  • Randy Cabral – Racing for The Shane Hammond Believe Foundation
  • Ron Silk – Racing for The Lustgarten Foundation
