Drizzler?: Light Rain Forces Delay To Start Of NAPA Spring Sizzler Sunday At Stafford

Track Drying Stafford 4-27-14STAFFORD – Light afternoon rain forced Stafford Motor Speedway officials to delay the drop of the green flag for competition on NAPA Spring Sizzler Sunday.

Competition had been scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the running of a 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event.

Stafford Speedway hosted fans and teams on the front stretch of the track for their annual NAPA Pit Party Sunday morning in preparation for Sunday’s action.

As the pit party began clearing from the track light rain began falling over the Speedway.

Track crews immediately hit the racing surface fighting to keep the track dry. By 12:50 track officials had drivers examining the track surface while trucks still worked to keep the track dry.

The showcase event on the schedule Sunday is the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Spring Sizzler 200, the second event of the season for the Modified Tour.

Also on the schedule for Sunday is a 30-lap Late Model feature and the 25-lap Northeast Mini Stock Tour.
