STAFFORD – With a brief rainstorm in the rearview, Stafford Motor Speedway officials dropped the green flag on NAPA Spring Sizzler competition after a slight weather delay Sunday afternoon.
Racing had been scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the track, but light rain forced track officials to send dryers onto the track instead of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified division to start the show.
Track crews got the surface dry and the drivers of the SK Modified division were strapping into their cars for their 40-lap feature by 1:05 p.m.
After pre-race festivities were completed, the command to start engines was given at 1:17 p.m. and teams hit the track to kickoff the Sunday Spring Sizzler Schedule at Stafford.
The showcase event on the schedule Sunday is the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Spring Sizzler 200, the second event of the season for the Modified Tour.
Also on the schedule for Sunday is a 30-lap Late Model feature and a 25-lap Northeast Mini Stock Tour.
