STAFFORD – The speed he brought to Stafford Motor Speedway last week came right back to the track with Bobby Santos III Friday.

Santos, of Franklin, Mass., was fastest in practice and won the pole in qualifying for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour TSI Harley-Davidson 125 last Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway. The race was eventually postponed to this week because of rain.

Friday afternoon Santos turned the fastest lap of practice at 18.269 seconds (98.528 mph) before rain came and cut short the practice session by about 20 minutes, putting the show on hold at Stafford Speedway.

Tommy Barrett Jr. of Millis, Mass., winner of Thursday’s Valenti Modified Racing Series event at Thompson Speedway, was second fastest during the 25-minute practice at 18.389 seconds (97.885 mph).

Woody Pitkat of Stafford was third fastest during the session at 18.432 seconds (97.656 mph).

As of 6:15 p.m. the rain was still falling at Stafford Speedway.
