WATERFORD – Ken Cassidy Jr. had the perfect way Saturday to come back from one of the most disappointing nights of his racing career at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Cassidy, of Lisbon, passed Pete Zaikarite for the lead with seven laps left and went on to win the 25-lap Mini Stock feature Saturday at Waterford.

Garrett Denton, of Ashaway, R.I. was second and Wayne Burroughs Jr. of Oakdale third.

After winning the Mini Stock feature on April 19 at Waterford, Cassidy, a five-time division champion at the Speedbowl, was disqualified from the victory.

Cassidy was one of four drivers in the top-five of the feature disqualified for running illegally modified spindles.

“How bout them spindles?” Cassidy said immediately following Saturday’s feature. “After [the last race] there’s only one way to come back and show these guys how we do it, put it in victory lane.”

Jordan Hadley of Quaker Hill won by nearly three-quarters of a lap in the 20-lap X-Car feature.

“We just got to the front and didn’t look back,” Hadley said.

Richard Nye of Stonington was second and Zach Thomas of New London third.
