Jeff Smith Wins New England Racing Fuel Support Performer Of The Week Award

NE Racing Fuel Support Performer AwardThe first time out was the time to shine for Jeff Smith behind the wheel of an SK Light Modified Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

In his first event ever in any sort of Modified, Smith, of Old Lyme, held off Joey Ferrigno to win the SK Light Modified feature Saturday at Waterford.

Smith had been tabbed to drive the car only two days before the event by team owner Gino Difilippo Jr.

And off the track the accolades kept coming this week for Smith, as he won the New England Racing Fuel Support Performer of the Week Award.

Smith earned 54 percent of the votes in polling for the New England Racing Fuel Support Performer of the Week Award this week.

Each week during the 2014 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Support Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in one of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly support divisions (excludes SK Modified divisions) at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.

Smith will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel. The final voting results are listed below.
