STAFFORD – Bobby Santos III will take the field to green for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Call Before You Dig 8-1-1 150 Friday evening at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Santos, of Franklin, Mass., toured the half-mile oval at Stafford in 18.433 seconds (97.651 mph).
It was the second pole of the 2014 season for Santos, who has won a series high three races this season. It was the 15th career Whelen Modified Tour pole for Santos and his eighth at Stafford Speedway.
Santos just edged Woody Pitkat in time trials. Pitkat, of Stafford, was second in qualifying at 18.435 seconds (97.640 mph).
Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y. was third fastest in the qualifying session at 18.458 seconds (97.519 mph).
Ted Christopher of Plainville was fourth fastest and series points leader Doug Coby of Milford fifth fastest respectively.
