Can the SK Lights from Thompson participate also..?..Oh wait, I forgot…

  2. I am 51 years old and I can recall everything that was going on back so long ago. Street Stocks began as “Sportsmen” way back in 1969, 1970,71,72,73 as 55 chev, 56 chev, or the 57.
The modified cars had prewar coupe bodies and were wrenched on and tuned (no laptops) by ear.
I knew the track had been fighting tooth and nail. For years, neighbors would move near the track, and then bitch about the noise.
The memories of that track will be a part of my permanent memory forever. Thanks to Terry Eames, the Cohanzie fire dept. And the uncountable people who helped make the Waterford Speed Bowl the icon from the very beginning, to this difficult day we have here.
Lots of peoples lives where changed by not only the friendly crowd, but also the racers and mechanics ‘showed their stuff’. This was better than TV because THIS TRACK will always be the fans track.
WATERFORD SPEED BOWL WE WILL MISS YOU, YOU RAISED 3 GENERATIONS of DRIVERS’, MECHANICS’, and most of all YOU RAISED FAMILIES THAT LOVED TO WATCH RACES as FAMILIES. WE THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL THE KIDS that may have chose a different path if it hadn’t been for the as speed bowl. Thank you for all the great years….

Maybe Thompson can move their NASCAR venue over to Sat. night now and attract the racers and fans that they say have been diminishing over the years….Car counts would be way up and it would be easier for the fans to attend on a weekend from all over the surrounding areas as opposed to running events on a work night.
But I highly doubt this would be a consideration, because current tea toddling management has “no” respect for the NASCAR fraternity….
