Racers 4 Racers Holiday Toy Drive Proves Huge Success Monday In Waterford

Gift BoxesWith gifts in hand for donation, more than 125 partygoers attended the first Racers 4 Racers Holiday Toy Drive Monday at Langley’s at the Great Neck Country Club in Waterford.

Local racing supporter and long time crew member Mike Serluca led the organization of the event, which was planned in just about a week’s time.

“For putting this together in like seven days, the turnout was just overwhelming,” Serluca said. “I couldn’t believe how many people showed up. It was amazing the people that showed up.”

Admission to the event was one new unwrapped toy.

Serluca also collected toys for donation from around Connecticut and Rhode Island from numerous people who could not attend the event.

All toys will be donated to Kinship For Kids of Oakdale, CT.

A raffle was also held at the event, raising $762 for the Cohanzie Volunteer Fire Department to assist in funding track safety management equipment for the Waterford Speedbowl.

“For my first time taking a crack at something like this, I was pretty overwhelmed with the support that people showed,” Serluca said.
