STAFFORD – In his first season at Stafford Motor Speedway in 2014, Tyler Trott’s best finish was an eighth place in the DARE Stock division.

Hardly the results the 21-year old from East Hartford was expecting. But over the offseason Trott showed just how some studying and changes can go a long way.

Trott opened the season at Stafford Motor Speedway with a career best fifth place finish on April 25. In the second event of the year on May 1 Trott grabbed another career best with a second place.

Friday Trott kept that upward momentum swing going in dramatic style.

Trott held off Trace Beyer on a late restart to score his first career victory in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature Friday at Stafford Speedway.

“I missed a shift on that [last restart],” Trott said. “I was praying to god that Beyer didn’t get me on that. It was a hell of a race. I can’t even describe the emotions. I just hope next week we can do it again.”

Dan Dembek of Hampden, Mass. was second and Beyer third.

“We did a lot of homework over the offseason,” Trott said. “A lot of homework on how to set up the car. Me and my buddy spent night and day looking at it. This year I think we’ve got it figured out.

“Over the offseason we had changed the motor in our car and ran a crate motor and learned to set the car a little differently. The crate motor is way more powerful than the motor we were running. Right out of the gate I knew we were going to be faster, it was just a matter of dialing the car in.”
