WATERFORD – Last week Keith Rocco became the all-time winningest driver at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

Saturday he was making quick work in extending that record even more.

Rocco drove away from the field in the closing stages to win the 30-lap Late Model feature Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

It was the fourth victory in five Late Model events at Waterford this year for Rocco and his 109th career victory at the track.

Anthony Flannery of East Hampton was second and Jeff Rocco of Wallingford third.

Flannery held about a 10-car length lead over Keith Rocco when a caution flew with 10 laps remaining. On the restart, Keith Rocco used the outside lane to power by Flannery for the lead off of turn two. From there he went unchallenged the rest of the way.

“We would have caught him, I don’t know if we would have had enough time to get by him,” Rocco said. “But the caution definitely helped us out.”

Chris Meyer of North Franklin passed Al Stone III coming to the white flag and won the 25-lap Limited Sportsman feature. Stone, of Durham, held on for second. Norm Root Jr. of Old Saybrook was third.

Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon won the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Wayne Burroughs Jr. of Oakdale was second and Sean Caron of Clinton third.
