STAFFORD – Zack Robinson isn’t lacking of confidence in any way, though even with his confidence, he still couldn’t dream of what took place Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

In his eighth career start in the DARE Stock division at Stafford, Robinson, of Putnam, drove to victory in the 15-lap feature Friday.

The 14-year old Robinson made his first start in the divison in the season ending Fall Final at Stafford last October. Before Friday his best career finish was fourth.

Tyler Trott of East Hartford was second and Marcello Rufrano third.

“I thought it was going to be more like halfway or toward the end of the season,” Robinson said when asked if he thought he could get a win in 2015. “When I looked and saw the white flag for that last lap and Tyler got a little loose, I was like, ‘I guess it is going to happen early.’

Robinson went to the lead early and then held off the challenges of Trott over the closing stages.

“I try to stay very relaxed and calm,” Robinson said. “The easier and calm you are while driving the more you get out of the car. I partially learned that from grandfather Leo Adams – he’s mentioned some things over the years of him racing and things I should try out – just listening to him helps.”
