STAFFORD – It looks as if Ryan Preece carried the momentum well of a victory in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 161 at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl right to Stafford Motor Speedway this afternoon.

Preece led the way in practice Friday afternoon at Stafford Motor Speedway in preparation for tonight’s Whelen Modified Tour TSI Harley-Davidson 125.

Preece, of Berlin, toured the half-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.300 seconds (98.361 mph) during the one hour practice session.

Preece goes into tonight’s event leading the series standings by one point over reigning champion Doug Coby of Milford. Woody Pitkat of Stafford is third in the standings, two points behind Preece.

Coby was second fastest during the practice at 18.370 seconds (97.986 mph). Rowan Pennink of Huntingdon Valley, Pa. was third fastest at 18.390 seconds (97.879 mph).
