Joe Arena (74) and Chris Douton battle in North East Street Stock Tour action recently at Speedway 51 in Groveton, N.H.

The North East Street Stock Tour will travel to Speedway 51 for the second time on the 2015 schedule, boasting a heated point battle entering the fifth event of the season.

With his second straight win, Geoff Rollins has made a stake for his claim on the inaugural championship. Rollins has been within striking distance of Chris Douton and Joe Arena, but is now tied with Douton entering the “51 for 500” event at Speedway 51, on August 15. Both drivers finished in the top 5 in the June event, and are jockeying for position in the championship standings for the second half of the season.

Arena, who picked up the victory in the June event at Speedway 51, finished a season-worst ninth at Lee USA Speedway, and is looking to rebound with another win at the northern ¼-mile facility.

“I never thought we would come away with the win at Speedway 51,” Arena exclaimed. “I had talked to Steve [Kenneway], and we agreed I’d follow him until halfway. When Steve broke, I knew I had to hold everyone off.”

After Arena’s misfortune at the “Friday Night Lights” event at Lee USA Speedway, a win would put the Bristol, CT driver back in the midst of the point hunt.

Arena continues, “We are now going into this race knowing the track. We are making changes to improve the car more, and we feel we can win again. We have confidence going into the Speedway 51 event, and want to be in the hunt before going into the road course event [at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park], which is the ringer on the schedule.”

Charlestown, NH’s Bryan Town is another driver who showed promise at Speedway 51, and is looking for a strong finish to turn his season around. Town has experienced terrible luck this season, including the Speedway 51 event, when he was running in the top 4, but had to retire early from the event due to a mechanical failure.

Town expressed his need for a strong finish, saying “I think we can win at Speedway 51. The car has the potential, I just need the luck on my side. Our luck has to change at some point, and hopefully it’s at Speedway 51.”

Town also commented on the change from running the same track every week, to travelling on the tour. Town responded “Racing on the tour is nice, just from a change of scenery and cars. We see the regulars every race, but we all have respect of each other, and run each other pretty clean. It’s harder to keep up on all the setups for the track when it’s different every week, but it keeps everyone on their toes.”

The North East Street Stock Tour will travel back to Speedway 51, in Groveton, NH, for the “51 for 500” event on August 15. Post time for this event is 5:30PM. For more information on the North East Street Stock Tour, visit www.nestreetstocktour.com.
