WATERFORD – Last Saturday at Thompson Speedway Pete Zaikarite lost out on the chance to celebrate in front of the World Series weekend crowd at Thompson Speedway.

Zaikarite, of Niantic, scored his first North East Mini Stock Tour victory at Thompson last Saturday, but it was well after the event’s conclusion when he found out. Zaikarite was awarded the win after the top-two finishers were disqualified.

Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl Zaikarite got his chance to let out that pent up celebration from last week.

Zaikraite held on through a caution-married event to win the 40-lap Mini Stock feature at the first day of the Bemers Super Bowl of Racing at the New London-Waterford Speedowl.

“This whole week has just been incredible,” Zaikarite. “We won the World Series last weekend and bring it home to the inaugural Super Bowl here at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. I couldn’t be more proud of my crew. My crew is better than your crew, you know what I mean. When I say that I mean that.”

Sean Caron of East Hampton was second and Mitch Bombard of Willimantic third.

Brandon Plemons of Uncasville led every circuit to win the 40-lap Limited Sportsman feature.

Al Stone III of Durham was second and Ryan Waterman of Danielson third.
