Highly regarded rookie Ryan Preece is scheduled to race for the first time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Saturday’s Boyd Gaming 300 Xfinity Series race.

Preece, in pursuit of the Xfinity Rookie of the Year award, will drive the G&K Services/UPTick Vineyards 01 Chevrolet for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller at Las Vegas. He will race with associate sponsorship from Michael J. Cane, J.D. Tax Advisor this week.

“We had a pretty good run last week at Atlanta, and I’m ready to take the next step at Las Vegas,” Preece said. “It will be my first time there, but I think I can get used to the track pretty quick. We’ve got a couple of practice sessions, so we should get it dialed it pretty good. Looking forward to seeing what we can do there.”

Practice is scheduled at the fast 1.5-mile Las Vegas track at 3:30 p.m. (ET) and 6 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 12:45 p.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 4 p.m.

Comments

  1. I’m in Vegas for the race. Should I bet Ryan preece as a field bet at 20-1 or go with Kyle Busch at 6/5 favorite.

  2. KB at 6/5 all day long if you are betting your own money.

  3. Missed the early caution. but it was good seeing the 01 on tv from time to time..

  4. Top 20 is pretty good for that car and that team with a new driver at a new track. Funny I don’t see any haters anymore about him riding in the back.

  5. Chris D. says

You are so right Fred. 18th place, 3 laps down is so amazing, very few drivers could accomplish that. Words can’t describe it, it is so good.

  6. Any one know y he hit the wall on lap 1

  7. RaceDayNH says

Chris D… Very few drivers making their first start at a track and driving for a backmarker team could accomplish finishing 18th in NASCAR’s 2nd highest series. Especially when the top 10 in Xfinity is always filled with cup drivers. Brad Keselowski finished 3 laps down too and I’m just guessing he has a little bit more resources than Preece. I guess he must be a horrible driver too… Generally I never respond to people who are just trolling on message boards but you are an extremely good troll.

  8. Chris D. says

RaceDayNH… To say very few drivers could accomplish an 18th place finish (3 laps down), is ridiculous. Further, to compare Preece with Keselowski is a bit of a stretch, but we’ll see what happens going forward. If you think 18th is good, more power to ya.

  9. Sharpie Fan says

Well, I’d say that he’s doing as well as an Xfinity rookie as Chase Elliott is doing as a Cup rookie with all of the resources that he has available.

  10. I’m with you raceday,Ryan doesn’t even have the car and crew that Chastain has and he is still doing a great job. Some people will continue with their ridiculous comments. At the end of the day it is not us he has to impress.lets see who likes him at the end of the year.
