BRISTOL, Tenn. – Ryan Preece scored his second top-20 finish of his first Xfinity Series season Saturday, coming home 19th in the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Preece ran as high as seventh during a round of pit stops and stayed solidly in the middle pack most of the day before finishing seven spots in front of his starting position.

Preece, driving the G&K Services Chevrolet, finished 13th in a 50-lap heat race that was held before the 200-lap main event. The heats set the starting lineup for the feature.

“For the first time out here, it was OK,” Preece said. “We wanted to get in a lot of seat time and get a good finish. I would have liked to have been higher on the finish grid, but we’ll take that and move on to Richmond.”

Erik Jones won the race, his third career victory. Daniel Suarez kept the point lead.

The next Xfinity Series race is April 23 at Richmond International Raceway in Virginia.

Lots of hard work paying off great start to a long season. It’s a totally different pace from open wheel mods. Keep it up Kid !!!!

Hey, I think Preece is doing way better than Danica Patrick did during her debut.

  6. I’d say a finish in the top half of the field in what is considered to be the second most prestigious stock car series is pretty good for the equipment and experience that Ryan has, especially when you consider the fact that there were 6 cup drivers who finished in front of him. Situations like this really need to be looked at in perspective. keep up the good work Ryan!

  7. Elect doesn’t get it and never will

  8. These press releases are priceless. I hope you are all saving them each week to keep in a scrapbook. “Stayed solidly in the middle of the pack”. That’s kind of a new one, I don’t think they’ve used that line before. They forgot the usual “something to build on”. They also forgot to mention “finished 3 laps down in a 200 lap race”, but, that’s a given every week, so why mention it.
