NEWTON, Iowa — A blown right front tire tossed Ryan Preece into an accident near the halfway point of Sunday’s American Ethanol E15 250, leading to a 32nd-place finish.

Preece’s accident on lap 98 of 250 caused a six-lap caution period.

The JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team made repairs on the Flex Shot Chevrolet and returned Preece to the track for what amounted to a test session over the rest of the race.

“We got the car back out there, and we think we learned a lot,” team owner Johnny Davis. “It was good work by the team in a tough situation.”

Preece had a good car, qualifying 18th.

Preece is 19th in Xfinity driver points.

Sam Hornish Jr. won the race, and Daniel Suarez remained in the point lead.

After a week off, the Xfinity Series races at Daytona International Speedway July 1.

  1. It is the crews fault
If he gets a better tire he can win

    Plus no spare
