This Friday night’s 45-lap Xtra Mart Convenience Stores Xtra D SK Modified® feature will have total posted awards (purse and bonuses) totaling over $10,000. The race will feature a purse of over $8,000 with $2,300 in available contingency bonuses.
The race winner will take home $2,025 in winnings, with a purse of $1,400 plus contingency bonuses of $300 from Xtra Mart, $150 from Dunleavy’s Truck and Trailer Repair, $150 from Maybury Material Handling, and a $25 gas certificate from New England Racing Fuel, Sunoco Brand. The race pays a minimum of $130 to start with each of the top-3 finishers taking home at least $1,000 with the proper contingency decals on their cars.
Each top-5 finisher will collect a $300 bonus from Xtra Mart Convenience Stores. The second place finisher will collect an impressive total of $1,300, third place $1,025, fourth place $800, and fifth place $700. The second place finisher will also collect a $125 bonus from Call Before You Dig and a $25 gas certificate from N.E. Racing Fuel while the third place finisher will receive a $100 bonus from Casagrande Builders along with a $25 gas certificate from N.E. Racing Fuel.
“I think with the extra laps that will give us some extra time to get up in the top-5,” said Ronnie Williams, driver of the #59 Advice One Chevrolet. “Sometimes you need those extra laps and it’s always nice when Xtra Mart pitches in and we have some extra money to race for. We’re still looking for our first win of the year. We haven’t had a bad season but we’re definitely hungry for a win and with extra money getting thrown at us, it’s a perfect opportunity for us. Last year with only two extra laps we went from fourth to first so with five extra laps you never know what could happen.”
“Xtra Mart has been involved with Stafford for many, many years and it’s great that they’re still involved,” said Ted Christopher, driver of the #13 Sterling Security/Al-Lee Installations Chevrolet. “Extra money is always good in this game because we all know how expensive it can get.”
In addition to the $10,000 plus 45-lap SK Modified Xtra Mart Xtra D feature, Friday, June 10th Stafford Speedway will also play host to a fireworks display after the race. Tickets are priced at $17.50 for Adult General Admission, $5.00 for Children Ages 6-14 General Admission, and $20.00 for Reserved Seating. It is great to see these people and businesses add additional money to the purse. I am assuming most of the decision as to what position it benefits is the sponsors choice, but the lower 3/4 of the field is where much of the help is needed. I think the fans and track would benefit from more consistent and competitive fields. JMO.
It would be awesome if Stafford Speedway kicked in an extra 1k to give the 6th thru 27th place cars extra monies.
