Rookie Ryan Preece will hit the bricks at Indy for the first time this week.

Preece, driving for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller, will make his Indianapolis Motor Speedway debut in Saturday’s Lilly Diabetes 250 Xfinity Series race.

“Everybody wants to race at Daytona and Indy,” Preece said. “They are world capitals of racing. I’m looking forward to getting on the track and getting the feel of the place. It will be a unique experience.”

Preece is 18th in Xfinity points entering the race.

Practice at the giant IMS track is scheduled at noon and 3 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 11:40 a.m. Saturday.

A pair of 20-lap heats (the first scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Saturday) will set the lineup for the 5:05 p.m. feature.
