BRISTOL, Tenn. – Ryan Preece matched his best performance of the Xfinity Series season Friday night, finishing 15th in the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Preece qualified 18th and raced with the lead group much of the evening. He has finished 15th in two other events this year – at Talladega Superspeedway and Kentucky Speedway.

The race was a tough one, in part because the track had made modifications to the racing surface and in part because the field was overloaded with Sprint Cup invaders. Additionally, the race was only Preece’s second at the fast concrete oval.

“All in all, a good night,” Preece said. “With all the wrecks near the end of the race, we were shooting to move up even higher, but a 15th here is a good work day for us.”

Preece stayed 18th in Xfinity driver points.

Austin Dillon won the race, and Elliott Sadler stayed in the point lead.

The series moves on to Road America for an Aug. 27 race.
