CONCORD, N.C. – Ryan Preece scored a 23rd-place finish in Sunday’s Drive for the Cure 300 Xfinity Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Preece, driving the Rockstar Energy Drink Chevrolet, qualified 30th and moved up through the first part of the race. He reached 21st.

With four races left in the Xfinity season, Preece is 17th in series points.

“It was a pretty good day for our second career race at Charlotte,” Preece said. “Charlotte presents a big challenge, and it’s one of the longest races of the year. We’ll take another step there next time.”

On Thursday at CMS, Preece won the Bad Boy Off Road Southern Slam 150 Southern Modified Tour race. He won by .94 of a second.

Sprint Cup invader Joey Logano won the Xfinity race, the second one of the day at CMS. Because of rain that postponed activity at the track Friday and Saturday, both the Sprint Cup and Xfinity races were held Sunday. Jimmie Johnson won the Cup race.

The series moves on to Kansas Speedway for an Oct. 15 race.
