Naskart Facility Ready To Take Entertainment Karting To Another Level In Connecticut

The Naskart facility in Montville

MONTVILLE – Last January, Lincoln, R.I. entrepreneur Steve Sangermano was vacationing with his family in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and spent some time at a local karting facility.

“The kids had a great time but, they had an idea to make it even better,” Sangermano said.

And born was the vision that has come to life in Montville.

Naskart is a 110,000 square foot multi-level indoor karting facility that will open later this month in Montville. It is billed as the largest multi-level indoor karting facility in the world.

Sangermano, part of the ownership group of Naskart, said after visiting the track in Fort Lauderale, his 18-year old daughter Alexis and 15-year old son Tyson both agreed that a flat track was fun, but a multiple levels would truly be the next level of enjoyment.

“They said ‘If you wanted to do something great, do something with inclines.’” Sangermano said. “We went actually four levels here. We went into the earth. It’s four full levels.

“The track came out amazing. You can put tracks on paper. We did an animated thing and it looked cool. But when you come in here, it’s like a kid walking into Gillette Stadium. You’re wow’ed. And we put a mezzanine so the parents are on top of the action. They’re on top of their kids watching the karts going up and down underneath them.”

Naskart hosted a media day Thursday and ribbon cutting ceremony at the facility, which is in the final stages of completion. The facility is at 1 Satchatello Industrial Drive in Montville, a little over two miles down Route 85 from the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

“People are bored with the movies, they’re bored with going bowling,” Sangermano said. “We said ‘What’s different?’ Everybody loves karts. We wanted to do electric. The gas karts, there are too many fumes. And we said ‘What else?’ So we put a trampoline park in here too. Those are the two coolest things. And we’ll have a nice bar and a neat little restaurant. We’re trying to have a fun spot where kids can get off their phones for a while.”

Sangermano said the group is shooting for a December 26 opening with a possible soft opening between Dec. 19-21.
