STAFFORD – Last Friday at Stafford Speedway Teddy Hodgon IV was on the podium for the Dunleavy’s Modifiedz night SK Light Modified feature for what he described as the most disappointing second place finish of his career at the track.
Hodgdon looked on his way to victory in special extra distance feature for the SK Light Modifieds last week before late cautions had him instead chasing winner Noah Korner to the checkered flag.
Friday at Stafford Hodgon got to put the disappointment of the previous week far in the rear view.
Hodgdon, of Danbury, cruised to victory in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature Friday at Stafford.
“Unfortunately circumstances happened,” Hodgdon said of last week. “I just put last week behind me. I was just fully committed on what I needed to do today and we achieved that goal by winning the race.
“Just having the disappointing week last week was disappointing. Coming out and doing the same thing over and putting it in victory lane this time is definitely one of the sweetest wins of my career.”
Bryan Narducci of Colchester was second and Bob Charland of Stafford third.
It was the second career SK Light Modified win at Stafford for Hodgdon, who got his first victory on Aug. 24, 2018.
Hodgon went by Charland for the lead on lap 11 and never trailed again. Narducci moved into second on lap 14 but couldn’t close the gap enough to challenged Hodgdon.
“In traffic there [early] I was a little worried because the thing was not handling the greatest,” Hodgdon said. “But as soon as we got out front, oh my god this thing was on rails.”
Sorry Teddy but you were the second fastest car this race. Just joshing. No it’s true Narducci was, big surprise aye. But not by much. A cats whisker describes it best. The shocker was Bob Charland with a great finish but more importantly speed only a tick off the best and better then the rest. Must be taking his Geritol. This isn’t the first time he’s contended. He’s a player this year.
Rookies in first, third and fifth in the points. I love this division.
Narducci did what he had to. Get a good finish and move on to next week. He’s got plenty of time. Patience grasshopper.
