STAFFORD – Last week Tom Fearn, the all-time winningest Late Model driver at Stafford Speedway, scored his 50thcareer victory in the division.

Friday at Stafford Fearn, of East Longmeadow, Mass., began the march to 100.

Fearn scored his second consecutive win and third win in the last four events in the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford.

“I’ve got to thank my crew,” said Fearn, the reigning Late Model division champion. “We work hard on this car every week and we’ve been better and better since the beginning of the year. Hopefully we can keep it here.

“… We were just searching for something that was going to work for us. I know the feel I need and we’ve just got to work towards it. It took us a couple weeks to change the stuff and we finally got something that I like. … We’ve got to keep trying to get better too though.”

Adam Gray of Belchertown, Mass. was second and Albert Saunders of Stafford third.

It looked like it was all going bad quick for Fearn on lap 23. He got under leader Michael Bennett to move to the front off of turn two. But in turn three Bennett came back under Fearn. Contact between the two had Fearn sliding up the track and nearly spinning off of turn four. Fearn was able to wrangle in his sliding ride. Behind him Bennett got gobbled up by the pack.

“He kind of let me save it I guess,” Fearn said. “Then they ran up on the back of him. Just one of them things. They’re struggling and I know he wants to win too.”

  1. Reminds me of the movie groundhogs day. Congrats to Tom and the 92 crew.

  2. Here we go again. For a while there is seemed like we were going to be seeing a pretty competitive and improving field in the LM’s this year. Bennett back, Gambacorta looking real fast and young guns Ryan Fearn and the Saunder’s twins. But there’s old Tom in the same place. Not a stellar start to the year and still in first by 68 points.
Good for Tom but predictability is bad for any division.
