In addition to hosting the 2nd Annual Bud Light Open Mod 80 this Friday night, July 12, Stafford Speedway will also present the 2nd Annual TC 13 Shootout, a special 13 lap sprint in memory of the late Ted Christopher for the SK Modified® division that will immediately follow the regular 40-lap feature event.  Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, the purse for this Friday night’s TC 13 Shootout stands at just shy of $7,000.

The TC 13 Shootout purse consists of contributions from Sign Pro, Justin & Tabitha Manafort, John Rayner Real Estate, Greg & Venetta Narducci of the Florida Connection, Big Haus USA Racing Products, Gaston Racing Enterprises, Hoosier Tire East, Jeff Ramsey Carpentry, Dr. Sean Noel with Life Care Family Chiropractic, NASCAR, Whelen Engineering, New England Racing Fuel, Sign Pro and Wheelers Automotive Service.

The winner of the TC 13 Shootout will receive $1,313 and each of the top-5 finishers in the shootout will receive over $500.  2nd Place pays $913 while the last place finisher will receive $200.  Coupled with the regularly scheduled 40-lap feature, the total posted awards for the SK Modified® division will exceed $15,000.   If a driver can win both the 40-lap feature and the TC 13 Shootout, they will take home over $3,000 in purse and contingency bonuses for the evening.

“We’ve received incredible support for the TC 13 Shootout,” explained Stafford Speedway CFO Lisa Arute.  “Teddy enjoyed the big paydays and with almost $7,000 up for grabs and $1,313 going to the winner, we think this is a race and purse that Teddy would approve of.  We appreciate the generosity of our purse partners for this race and for the racing community in keeping the memory of Teddy strong.  It is an honor for us to present this tribute to Teddy as we continue to recognize all his accomplishments in his remarkable career at Stafford Speedway.”

The starting field for the TC 13 Shootout will be set by the top-13 finishers in the 40-lap feature event.  Nicole Christopher, Ted Christopher’s niece, will draw a chip following the completion of the 40-lap SK Modified® feature to determine how many cars will invert for the TC 13 Shootout.

“The level of competition in the SK Modified® division this season has been at an unbelievably high level and with the unknown of how many cars are going to be inverted, drivers will be trying even harder to be one of the top-13 finishers in the 40-lap feature to transfer into the TC 13 field,” continued Arute.  “It’s exactly the kind of high stakes race that Teddy would have relished.”

Along with the TC 13 trophy, Sign Pro has provided TC decals which will be available to purchase for $5 at the novelty booth.  All proceeds will go to the Ted Christopher Memorial Fund.

Any individuals or businesses interested in supporting the TC 13 Shootout may contact the track office at 860-684-2783.

The TC 13 SK Modified® Shootout will be paired with the Bud Light Open Modified 80, the 3rd Open Modified event of the 2019 season.  Stafford’s Late Models, SK Lights, Limited Late Models, and Street Stocks will also all be in action.  Tickets for the Bud Light Open Modified 80 / TC 13 SK Shootout are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seat tickets are $32.00 for all ages. All ticket prices include 10% CT Admission Tax. Stafford Motor Speedway offers plenty of free parking along with overnight camping available for self contained Recreational Vehicles.
