STAFFORD – On Aug. 21 Alexander Pearl was riding high at Stafford Speedway, celebrating his second SK Light Modified feature win of the season while sitting atop the division’s point standings.

And then a week later it all went bad, and then it went bad again, and then again.

Following his victory on Aug. 21 Pearl was involved in wrecks in three consecutive weeks, recording finishes of 22nd, 18th and 26th

Friday Pearl bounced back from the horrid streak in perfect style.

Pearl, of Salem, went by Nick Anglace for the lead on lap eight and checked on the way to victory in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature.

“I just took advantage of that up front starting spot,” Pearl said. “It’s unfortunate that we wrecked the last three weeks. But you’ve got to take advantage of the opportunities you’re given. I couldn’t be thankful enough for everybody and all the hard work that’s gone on in the shop the last three weeks. That really means a lot.”

Anglace, of Ansonia, was second and George Bessette Jr. of Danbury third.

The race went caution free, a rarity for the division.

“It was nice go caution free for a change,” Pearl said. “I’m glad I wasn’t one of the cautions.”

  1. He started near the front, the 7 is a good car, dad Jeff Pearl is the actual professor and Alexander is a good driver so good for them.
Gotta notice George Bessette Jr. While Debbis is lightning fast on some nights winning in a walk and mired in the pack in others Bessette hasn’t won but is competently delivering solid finishes. Third in points ahead of Debbis and the top rookie so far. In their own family prepared car they carefully eased into the division and not a rent-a-race car deal. Keep an eye on the 38.

  2. Doug thank you for your insights I swear you have an ability to see things I never could. This division is so competitive I can’t possibly predict who will win the season title. What a great year it’s been.

  3. I don’t know if you’re busting my chops for stating the obvious just Me. I hope not. In any event I consider your insider contributions some of the best, most informative entries one the the best parts of this forum.

  4. No way Doug no chop busting here and you’re way to modest about your keen insights. All that I see when I can get to the track is a blur of motley colored cars running in an oval. Keep up the good work. And maybe there is another Just me that posts? Because I rarely have a clue what’s going on “behind the scenes” as they say.
    Happy Autumn! 🍂

  5. Seems to be two people with the name Just Me. I know I haven’t post in the last week as so.

  6. I’ll take it this isn’t you.

Dareal, They only have one motor and with a limited budget, it makes it challenging. Hopefully they can pick up some additional sponsors for next year so they can do testing like they use to do”
