Tri-Track Open Modified Series To Adjust Rules For Inaugural Stafford Event

Tri-Track Open Modified Series officials and management at Stafford Motor Speedway have worked in conjunction to tweak series rules for the division’s inaugural appearance at the historic half-mile next month.

The Tri-Track Open Modified Series will host its first event at Stafford Speedway on Oct. 24. The series has historically raced only at tracks of less than a third of a mile.

“We’re moving away from our normal quarter-mile series,” Tri-Track Open Modified Series managing partner Ed Bennett said. “… [Tri-Track technical inspector] Greg Felton and I spent a lot of time looking into it. So tweaks were needed to even out the competition.”

Bennett said the normal series weight rule for the NASCAR SPEC Motor was lowered by 10 pounds for the Stafford event and that the normal weight rule for the 21-Degree Built motor was increased by 40 pounds. He also said a 4.86 maximum gear rule will be in effect for the event.

“We’re excited to have the Tri-Track Open Modified Series working to develop a rules package to meet the bigger track,” Stafford Speedway chief operating officer Paul Arute said. “I think a lot of our Stafford Modified Open guys and a lot of Stafford regulars are going to go into this being the favorites and we’re excited and it should be a great show.”

The event will feature a $50,000 plus purse for competitors.

“We’ll have more info on the event, the purse and the structure in the coming weeks,” Arute said.

Any teams looking for further information on the rules package for the event can call Felton at 413-695-2272.

  1. It’s the Tri-Track Modified Classic 81 including Streets and SK Light Modifieds. I’d hope this is the first of a tradition but no chance as the iconic Haunted Hundred returns post pandemic.
I’m hoping they know what it takes to try to equalize the field. So many unknowns. Perhaps they’ve taken a look at what New Smyrna has done that’s worked so well.
SK’s not on the program. Could a few enter seeing as how there’s nothing else going on?
So who’s running the 21 degree engine? Is that the engine Sapienza referred to when he said he liked Tri-Track and would do what he had to to get the most competitive engine. Chatter here is it never gained favor.
Stafford banned the specs for a reason. Comparing the July Open 80 practice to the August Stafford 150 practice the specs were commonly at 18.60.. The open mods can approach that but more commonly are one to two tenths higher. That’s a lot. . Yes conditions affect times and comparisons are suspect but worth noting anyway.
Can the Stafford gang actually compete? The accomplished outsiders like the 00 and 25 with their built engines as well.
Williams will be in the 50 most likely. Will Swanson be in the 3 or 25?
Hirschman? No Preece, he’ll be in Texas. He’d be perfect for this race.
Some of the NWMT heavy hitters like Lutz have both motors. What will they bring?
I guess it’s over statement but if opens are attractive for the unknowns they bring to modified racing this is an open turbo charged with unknowns.

  2. 21 degree? Only 18, 23 and specs allowed in TT for tour type engines. Did not see a 21 degree in the rules unless I missed something.

  3. I was right again!!!!!

Told you the rules would have to be tweaked for a TTOMS race on a track other than a bullring.

  4. Iconic is a little strong for a race that started just a few short years ago.

Banner weekend for DaReal coming up. Racing at NHMS, NFL Football, College Football, NBA playoffs. All things you said wouldn’t happen this year. The odds suggested you would have been right about something. Yet… you missed on everything sunshine.

  5. If you comprehend, I also predicted that there would be limited to no fans if any sports were to take place, long before the official experts made those calls. Ho-hum… real winning feels sooooooo good. Wish you could experience it.

Racing has had no to limited fans (depending on the level), much of southern racing has been shutdown completely, NFL has a small fraction of the fan capacity, much of college football has been canceled, NASCAR racing has been changed dramatically, NBA has no fans, NHL has no fans, MLB has no fans, TdF has very limited fans, most professional sports have no fans, some have very limited fans … Yeah, I’ve been right all along, Dearie.

That Sturgis biker gathering has turned into a real super spreader event. Up to a couple hundred thousand cases from it, first death already, spread all across the country, potentially a $12 BILLION medical bill. And that wedding in Maine… totally avoidable deaths.

Colleges that opened for in-person operations have quickly converted to online operations. Some dorms have been isolated for quarantine only days after students arrived. Even grammar and high schools have had to shut down after only a couple days. Not looking good for your predictions there JD. You need a new eight ball or crystal ball.

The experts and other smart people such as myself have warned you. This will be a deadly fall. Fauci has been warning for weeks already that this fall will not be pretty. And your boy, the big fat orange one, now admits the #TrumpPandemic is deadly dangerous. It’s all on tape.

How is your garden doing? Get any good results?

Wash your hands frequently, don’t touch your face, socially distance, and wear a mask.

  6. WOW, it didn’t take a rocket scientist or in your case a so called engineer to figure that out. Don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back!

  7. Didn’t see anything about the NWMT spec engine being banned, in fact they’re getting an additional 10 pound weight break. Never heard of a 21 degree motor, 18 and 23, maybe a Dart product? I like the idea of engine options, speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?
Today is a sad day, 19 years ago today America changed forever
Hope everyone is safe strong and sane. Keep fighting the good fight, maybe some day we will get the truth.

“Well, I hate to say it again, but I WAS RIGHT!!!!! I’M RIGHT AGAIN!!!!!”
“I can say it again, I AM RIGHT AGAIN !!!!!!!!”
    I was right again!!!!!

EPISODE 43: TTOMS/STAFFORD RULES CHANGES-WHO WAS FIRST TO SUGGEST THEM?

Tri-Track Open Modified Series Adding $10K To Win Stafford Speedway Event In October

    Into the weeds I go.
*It’s not Stafford open rules it’s TTOMS rules. Specs legal on a long track changes everything. How many NWMT teams will lick their chops on this one knowing the track and all and take a shot?
*huge change for TTOMS. Are rules tweets forthcoming?
*Rufrano and Rocco win going away in Stafford opens but this is a more open, open. Does the Stafford gang even have a chance or will guys show up with NWMT, spec loaded cars and blow them away? Or are rules tweaks forthcoming?

OK SO WHAT’S DAREALGOODFELLA’S FIRST THOUGHTS

carl block, does that mean I can mitigate risk? You idiots are putting me at risk, I should be able to neutralize that risk, right?

OK NOT YET BUT WHAT WERE DAREALGOODFELLA’S SECOND THOUGHTS

carl block, you are free to not wear a mask and end your life much sooner, one way or another. This is muhrika, you are free to do that. It’s your libibbity an kunstitwoshunall write too doo so.

    OK HERE WE GO.

    Any open port.
Seekonk is a great concrete skidpad. No where near the same as Stafford. TT is a bullring series, just about anybody can run. Those that can get lateral grip prevail.
Stafford is a horsepower track and that eliminates most cars. UNLESS some weight rules are developed. Fiddle with left side and total weight to even out the field.

LOOKS LIKE A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT DAREALGOODFELLA. DOUG SAYS DON’T MENTION IT. HE WAS HAPPY TO GIVE YOU THE IDEA SEEING AS HOW YOU TEND TO BE PERPETUALLY WRONG.

  9. Hey Rob p., the average of 18º and 23º is 20.5º, round it up and you have 21º.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’m thinking there’s lots of 18º motors running out there. Wonder what rule tweak applies to them?

The built motors have better low end torque than the SPEC motor. This should help even out the advantage the SPEC has in the turns and the advantage the built has on exit and straights.

Wash your hands often, social distance, wear a mask. 😷

  10. Rent free, totally rent free.

  11. NEWS FOR DAREAL

The Study you say was a super spreader being discounted

The paper also estimates the rise in cases in Meade County, South Dakota, the site of the rally, and reports an increase of between 177 and 195 cases compared with a “synthetic control” of similar counties, an approach similar in spirit to the difference-in-difference model. This represents a 100 to 200 percent increase in cases, which also appears to be a serious overestimate. Looking at the raw case data for Meade Country, cumulative cases from Aug. 3 to Sept. 2 increased from by 45 to 74, an increase of only total 29 cases (though a 64 percent increase). With a cumulative case count of only 74 in Meade County by Sept. 2, an estimated increase of 103 more than the total observed over the whole pandemic suggests serious problems with the model.

  12. Junior, who is this “paper” you speak of?

    Please cite your source.

And this spread event, focused on Sturgis, extends far beyond Meade County, SD. It extends all the way back to the participants home counties, thousands of them. This is not a modeling issue, but a contact tracing event.

But who is this “paper” you speak of, I’d like to read it.

  13. Dadope do even read your posts , you sound so much like the one you dislike, the great 45 , both of you are constantly telling us how smart you are and how your always right , truth of the matter is your both a box of rocks , bet you have a big comb over going too
