Well, given the long precedent set by NASCAR with who they allow, and who they banned or do not allow to participate, it is clear that NASCAR should not do any business with a Bemer-owned New London-Waterford Speedbowl.
NASCAR has banned people for substance abuse and rude behavior, and none of that comes close to the atrocities admitted to by Bemer.

What is the point? With Thompson and Stafford no longer Nascar sanctioned there is little chance of an SK driver winning the National title. With the recent departures it seems more facilities don’t see the benefits of Nascar sanctioning outweigh the costs. I would be in favor of a Whelen tour event at the Bowl but Nascar has shown a track doesnt have to be Nascar sanctioned to run a tour event. There probably is more races at non Nascar tracks this year then Nascar sanctioned tracks.
i think waterford has a good enough competitor and fan base that they can survive as a business, having to pay nascar’s sanction fee might jeopardize that whether bemer owns it or sells it. i don’t think it’s something they need to worry about right now, they have bigger problems.

Just can’t help wondering why this poll and if there is something afoot on the topic. One would think nothings changed much so why is it mentioned. Bemer is still a convicted felon and last time I checked NASCAR is hands off when it comes to sidling up with controversial figures.
Does Bruce Bemer even care about making or losing money that much? It’s not like he has a rosy future or children to leave his fortune to. He could be losing money hand over fist with the renovation, capacity limitations, covering purses and overhead. Profit might not be as important to him. It’s exciting and a unique challenge to divert his attention from legal issues.
Coby is hinting so far isn’t he and it’s not official. He must be floating in money from the real estate boom if he’s heading off to Fla. Or maybe he’s getting a big payday as an SRX driver. All conjecture but still a newer NWMT team with a championship to contend and he’s spending big going south.
Not just the number of cars signed up but from all over. NH surprisingly light on entrants but otherwise quite a geographically diverse group.
In terms of holding a tour race, yes. In terms of weekly racing, why? Waterford seems to be doing ok without them.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! get your place back up and running and back in order before you start shelling out money to anyone (not just NASCAR, but anyone). if after a few years of being open and successful;, you want to reevaluate the situation, then by all means, take a look then. but now, ABSOLUTELY NOT!
NASCAR needs a makeover. There used to be a time, years ago, when being a NASCAR track was beneficial. That time has come and gone. It seems nowadays that NASCAR has only 1 mission, to bleed the tracks, and competitors, for as much money as they can. Waterford seemed to maintain a good car count, and fan base after NASCAR booted them, and no longer have to pay those ridiculous sanction fee’s. This year, Stafford has parted ways with NASCAR, which tells me there is no benefit to being a NASCAR sanctioned track. As long as NASCAR continues in it’s current state, I think you’ll see more tracks dropping their sanction. Last year NASCAR held tour races at non sanctioned tracks, so I think it might be possible to hold a tour race at Waterford, provided a deal can be reached between both sides, which would be beneficial to both the track, and NASCAR.
I don’t think it would be a very good look for Nascar, considering Stafford choosing to relinquish their sanctioning. It would be like getting dumped by Mitt Romney and deciding to start dating Don Trump, just to have a boyfriend again.

I think this is a great poll that might have had hugely different results 4-5 years ago.
It was a big deal when NASCAR left Waterford after the owner’s legal issues. At the time, a NASCAR sanction was far more meaningful.
Over the last 5-8 years, due to Brian France’s abdication of the throne, continued manipulation of the top level rules and formats, little opportunity for talented and successful drivers to advance without money, and aging fans, the NASCAR brand is sliding towards irrelevance.
Once upon a time, “NASCAR” over the gate may have put butts in the seats at short tracks, but I don’t see that happening anymore. I grew up going to Danbury Racearena, a non-NASCAR club track that was packed every weekend. The racing was great!
Great racing puts butts in seats at short tracks. New England, especially Stafford, is doing that all by themselves. Put the money in the team’s pockets, and the racing will only get better, and better racing sells tickets all by itself. I stopped going to Cub races in the late 90’s, because it was overpriced, overhyped, and boring.
I’ve lost count how many times I’ve left a program at Stafford, or Seekonk, or other short tracks and reflected on what a satisfying night it was… To the point I want to visit more New England, NY, or NJ tracks, to enjoy the action.
Did Coby announce he is heading to New Smyrna? 39 mods registered. No Doug Coby……yet. That is a heck of field with or without DC. They are outdrawing the Super and Pro Late models which are more prevalent down south. Heck of a showing.

Word is, the powers that be at Waterford don’t want nascar back… i personally would love to see the tour there, but that would clearly have to be funded by an outside source. There’s no benefit to the weekly racers to running as nascar, just more costs.

Be not afraid. It’s a who’s who of cars and stars for Speedweeks. Huge car counts. Most of your favorite drivers will be there. Why the heck not. I’ll lay low for a few weeks upon return. A few days. In and out. Outside entertainment only.
New Smyrna for speedweeks is such a treat. Been lucky enough to go for @ last 7-8 years. Modified car counts have been skyrocketing last several years. Once they cut back to 5 nights for mods the entries just took off. I can’t make it this year but if you have means to go I’d highly recommend. As for NASCAR going back to the bowl ? If both sides can come to terms that work, bring em back. Everybody wins, especially the fans and the racers 👍🏁
