Restructured plans due to COVID-19 restrictions forced some major changes into schedule at NASCAR’s highest levels in 2020.

The one day show became common for most Cup Series events on the schedule. And that trend will continue into the 2021 season.

Former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ryan Preece is looking to take advantage of that change in scheduling as much as possible in 2021.

In addition to running full-time with the JTG Daugherty in the Cup Series, Preece will be looking to race his Tour Type Modified as much as he possible can in 2021.

That schedule of Modified racing kicks off next month when Preece returns to competition in the Tour Type Modified division at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smryna (Fla.) Speedway.

“I’m working on doing an aggressive schedule when it comes to racing,” Preece said during Episode 82 of Unmuffled. “… The way it is right now, it’s created lot of opportunity for drivers like myself to go and compete … where they’re from. I’m going to use that to my advantage and go race.

“I see myself racing anything and everything that I possibly can. My goal is to win a lot of races this year. … That’s just kind of how I’ve always gone about it is talking about winning. To me, that’s all that matters and that’s all that’s going to help me. So I need to go and show up and I need to win.

“It’s not easy by any means whether it’s on [the Whelen Modified Tour] or Open Shows or weekly in [SK Modifieds], it’s not an easy task. I’m looking forward to the challenge. I plan on racing Stafford [Motor Speedway], the Thompson [Speedway] Open Shows, [Whelen] Modified Tour races, the Tri-Track [Open Modified Series] stuff, New Smyrna, all over everything I can.

“I will have a new partnership this year with 811 Call Before You Dig. They’re going to be a sponsor of ours and a partner. I’m looking forward to working with them.”
