Jimmy Blewett is not sure what his participation level will as far as Tour Type Modified racing goes in 2021.
But when the opportunity to return to the World Series of Asphalt Stock Racing at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway, Blewett jumped at the chance.
And on Wednesday Blewett will get the chance to race in the event at New Smryna that honors his brother.
The Tour Type Modified division will run five consecutive nights of features at the New Smryna World Series. On Wednesday the division will run the John Blewett III Memorial 76-lap event.
“It’s great to see that trying still continuing to have that race in honor of my brother,” Blewett said on Episode 85 of Unmuffled. “Each year I say to myself, ‘Are they still going to have it?’ … A lot of tracks have had John Blewett III Memorial races and slowly but surely they go by the wayside. It’s nice to see that they’re still trying to keep the memory alive.”
Blewett talked plenty about New Smyrna and the rest of his plans this year in a Tour Type Modified, which he said he will likely include trips to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, Richmond (Va.) Speedway and to Thompson Speedway in October for the return of the Thompson 300.
When asked if he was interested in running the Thompson 300 Blewett said: “Yes, 100 percent. 100 percent. As long as the rules fit I will be there. I feel like everybody is talking about going there. I feel like that’s going to be another of them races where would have 50, 60 possibly 70 cars if it’s put together the way where it’s going to suit everybody.”

Don’t worry… Jimmy being Jimmy, he probably won’t last past Monday, and very few will see his car. Unless he brings a couple cars.
