STAFFORD – With the biggest short track event locally in decades set to take place Saturday night at Stafford Speedway with the debut of the SRX Series, the facility has been abuzz with activity all week.

That buzz got ramped up a notch on Friday morning with Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont touring the track and holding a press conference on the frontstretch of the historic half-mile oval.

  1. My man Ned entering the den of the lions at a Connecticut speedway a demographic not considered friendly to any politician of the Democratic persuasion. Buckle up Democrats this thread could be a rough ride.
The last Quarantine Chronicles was published on May 18, 2020. Were Mr. Courchesne to be an optimist he may have pondered how 2021 would surely be a better year then what we were enduring in 2020. However I doubt in his wildest flights of fancy he would have imagined he’d be at Stafford, without a mask, covering world class racing drivers including the most recent Indy 500 winner as well as a visit from the sitting Governor.

  2. Amen Doug, well said.
And for that to happen up to this point, I have to give a shout to the incredible people of all medical professions. I have to give a shout to the incredible medical technology field, who, in less than a years time developed a vaccine, to get the masses back on track. And lastly, to all of the public that did the right thing in wearing masks, good hygiene ect. Let’s not forget those that suffered a terrible loss.
While the pandemic may not be over, my, how far we have come since last year. I am so greatful.
This or any live event this year, is just exceeding my expectations plus 10!
Enjoy everybody. If you are reading this, we dodged a bullet. Can’t wait for tri track at seekonk, see you there!!!! But remember, good hygiene never goes out of style!!!
    Should be fun tomorrow night!!

  3. Stafford has been getting plenty of TV time with the SRX. This is great news for racing and Stafford. Looks like 👍 a good weather for today.

Thank science for the incredible progress against the coronavirus 🦠. They had to deal with massive objective challenges in pure science, and then the pressures from the politicians. A certain sect of Govt was doing all it could to impede and obstruct the scientists. The vaccines are working, non-vaccinated people are filling the hospitals. Science gets it done again!!!! ✅

Remember, friends don’t let friends go unvaccinated.

FACT: More people have died from COVID-19 in 2021 so far, than in all of 2020.

Be careful, be considerate, and most of all, don’t be an idiot.
