Matt Hirschman, Paul Arute And Lots Of Spring Sizzler Chatter On The Latest Edition Of Unmuffled

On Episode 127 of Unmuffled we have plenty of chatter. We’ll check out some of the storylines heading into this week’s Whelen Modified Tour event at Richmond. We talk some Cup racing and how the Next Gen car has been some great changes in 2022. We have a little storytelling going back to February 2001 looking at the birth of the XFL and the death of Dale Earnhardt and how those oddly tie in together for me. And we’ll take a look at the rumor mill meanderings of late.

  1. -there was a question of Arute you could have asked that no good could have come from and I’m glad you didn’t.
-once the hubris of the weekend wears offs the Arute’s may realize that trying to repeat that format may prove problematic. It was successful for it’s uniqueness, the money put up, the SRX spot on the line and weather that cooperated. To repeat that may prove to be difficult so more thinking outside the box may be called for.
-there will be no return to Saturday qualifying and Sunday features in my view. Weather is always and issue and a Saturday stand alone lets the track bank the revenue for the day instead of it remaining accrued but not earned and dependent on Sunday coming off as scheduled.
-Hirschman uses a lot of “ahs” normally when he’s speaking. Likely as a pause to give him more time to provided meaningful insights. This interview that must have been in the press box after the race contained few “ah’s” and he was more energized then I’ve ever heard him. Still well contained and thoughtful but the enthusiasm was unmistakable and great to here.
