STAFFORD – Adam Gray got his first victory of the season at Stafford on June 3 and it seems the Belchertown driver doesn’t want to let anyone else in the Late Model division visit victory lane again.

Gray got his second straight on June 10 and kept the momentum rolling in dramatic fashion Friday.

Gray scored his third consecutive in the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford.

Darrell Keane of Enfield was second and Kevin Gambacort of Ellington third.

Gray was resigned to accepting a third place finish before caution flew on lap 22. On the ensuing restart Gray made a diving move under Keane off of turn two to take over the lead for good.

“Pretty much sealed my fate that I was finishing third, thinking ‘There’s not going to be a caution.’” Gray said. “We were lucky we were in the right spot [for the restart] and we made it work.”

Said Keane: “There was a lot of choice words in the helmet when that happened. That’s racing, what are you going to do? The guy who has won championships multiple times here, he knows every inch of this place and he snookered me. … We’ll get there. It’s a work in progress. The guy behind the steering wheel is really got to get up on the wheel because we’ve been struggling this year.”

Rich Hammann of Tolland scored his third victory of the season in the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature.

“I knew I had a really good car on the long runs,” Hammann said. “There was no doubt in my mind, I just had to be patient. This car is just phenomenal.”

Kevin Cormier of Agawam, Mass. was second and Gary Patnode of Barkhamstead third.

Nick Hovey of Chaplin got his first win of the season in the 20-lap Street Stock feature.

“We made changes this week and I made some before the feature,” Hovey said. “We may not have been the fastest car, but it got us good enough.”
