RaceDayCT Poll: Your Thoughts On The Whelen Modified Tour Start Time Saturday At NHMS

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is back in action Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with the running of the Whelen Manufactured in America 100.

The race is scheduled to start at 6 pm on Saturday, which a change from recent years when the series typically ran early in the afternoon prior to the Xfinity Series.

Today’s poll question asks, what are your thoughts on the start time at Loudon Saturday for the Whelen Modified Tour? Like it? Don’t like it? Don’t care?. Vote below.

Comments

  1. My Question Is , Are All The People Voting Going? Our Watching From Their COUCH?

  2. Sharpie Fan says

Any time I can see modifieds at Loudon I’m happy.

  3. Also forget to mention, if there is a lengthy red flag. Race might not get all laps. NO LIGHTS at Loudon!

  5. The thing I am not a fan of is that the whole day seems to be pushed back 2 or 3 hours from what had previously been done on Saturday’s. I assume this is being done for the purpose of getting the Cup practice\qualifying on TV without it conflicting with whatever the network has airing earlier in the morning. There is no on track activity until 11:30 AM, where in previous years practice might be happening closer to 9:00 AM. But fans coming up for the day will likely still have to arrive early so they don’t get buried in non-racing summer traffic on I-93 North. All tickets seem to reserved now as well. Before the upper set of rows would be reserved. but most of the Saturday seating would be general admission. Looking at the seating charts for ticket sales earlier in the week, it seemed like Saturday had a strange setup. It was almost as if they were selling seats in a way that the camera angles would make it look like stands have more people in them than are really there. The main grandstand had tickets available in all rows when closer to the start finish line. But when you got closer to the Turn 1 or Turn 4 section of the main stands, they were only selling seats in the lowest rows. I would guess that would be when the cameral pans to those section, it only picks up the bottom of the stands.

  6. The Reg,
Sunset is at 8:22 pm on Saturday, and there would be enough light to continue running for some time after sunset. If they can’t get 100 laps on the board in two and a half hours there’s a major issue happening.

  7. Makes a great time to watch on Flo!

  8. Stuart A Fearn says

The earlier start before a televised race has lead to stopping the race before the end so the more important race can get set up. This later start eliminates the possibility of that happening so I am all for it.

  9. I loved going for the 12/1pm start time. Then, I’d be back home in the pool for 5/6. I looked forward to next year’s Tour NHMS race the second it ends. Should be showcasing the regional series first. Unfortunately, tv dictates/money talks. With no morning activity like Shawn mentioned, it just ruins the whole thing. I decided the second I saw the schedule on NHMS’s website a couple months ago that I’d be boycotting going until they change it back (yup I’m being THAT guy). The only way they’ll change it back besides tv, is if it rains at around 5pm so we can say, “HA HA NoW If YoU StaRTeD At 12/1PM evERYthing WOUld havE GoTTEN IN on Time!!” but, it won’t rain because it looks like Saturday will be Sunny. The other scenario would be if all the drivers scheduled a walkout/boycott themselves- which we know would never happen. So, ya dinner time with the modifieds I guess on my couch, or on the beach/pool if i decided to do that for the afternoon. At least I’ll get a tan and be able to cool off quicker going into the water. Unfortunately, it is what it is- at least I have FLO Racing.

  10. Shawn, I ‘ve been at Stafford till 1:00am for a tour. Remember the Fog Race. Anything can happen. They don’t have the luxury to run into the night. That’s all I’m saying. And all the years its been ran at 1:00. How many times has the Canadian cars been cut short?

  11. I am not a fan of the late Modified start. If I knew that when I renewed my tickets I would not have. For someone that needs to follow a particular diet track food is not an option. Getting to a hotel at 9:00 p.m. and eating dinner is not ideal. Don’t even mention bring food with me. How much can one gal bring in at once? I loved when it ran at 12 or 1 because plenty of time to see Modified and the race after and leave the track at a decent hour. I think this year they are catering to the campers. May be the last year I go to NHMS.

I 💗 it! More time to get sauced before the big race!!! 🥤🥃🍹🍸🥤🍺🍻🥤

  13. Fast Eddie says

Glad to know the Modifieds won’t be cut short for the Xfinity race. They’re now racing at closer to their practice and qualifying time of day. The slightly cooler weather without the sun directly on the track may make for a little faster speeds as well. I’m in!!

  14. WTF???!?!?!!!

  15. Jussayin says

Don’t like it. After Thompson show got postponed I was considering a day trip to Loudon until I saw the Mod start time. I ll just head to the Bowl.

  16. wmass01013 says

Allllllllllll other races on WMT start between 6 30 and 9 pm?
    whats the BIG DEAL?

  17. Most FANS drive a a good 2 to 3 hours to get there. If any delays , race gets shortened. No Lights. Are you paying attention to commets or you just a couch patato fan?

  18. Liz Cherokee says
