The accolades and achievements driving a Modified in recent years for Matt Hirschman have been many.

Add to the list of eye-popping accomplishments the close of the 2023 season for the Northampton, PA veteran.

On Oct. 28 Hirschman won the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series NAPA Final at Stafford. On Nov. 4 Hirschman won the Tour Type Modified feature at the North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C. On Nov. 11 Hirschman won the Islip 300 at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway.

Saturday Hirschman completed a scorching and historic run in New Jersey.

Hirschman won the 150-lap Tour Type Modified feature at the Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium in Wall, N.J.

It was the seventh career Turkey Derby Tour Type Modified win for Hirschman.

Stephen Kopcik of Newtown was second and Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y. was third.

I Never said I did’nt like him. Just got sick of the comparisons. Good job Matt!!!!

  2. Money is the best at winning. No one is close right now🏁

  3. Not a very impressive entry list, with MH, Kopeck and Emerling the only real competitive entries.

    Again, stealing candy from babies.

I’ve attended hundreds of races in my lifetime. Never have I seen the leader of a race get thrown out for rough riding. Until yesterday. Love the turkey derby but that place is whacky.

just a fan, Shawn any chance you can post the results

  6. John Caruso,
No results released from the track.

  7. so the village idiot thinks Matt should have stood home since competition wasn’t the greatestI

  8. Hillary 2024 says

Jankowiak was not a competitive entry?

  9. Where was Blewett?

Turkey Derby? More like an Idiot Derby. But in reality, it was a Demolition Derby.

darealgoodfella….stay in your dark closet….it seems to suit you just fine!!!

  12. Interesting data point. The Hartwig 73 that that the child driver normally pilots had the fastest lap time and comes in third with none other then Patrick Emerling driving.
It wouldn’t appear the observation that the field was weak nor that Hirschman had an easy time of it are accurate. He fought like a son of a gun for much of the race just to be in a position to be near the front at the end. Andy J. and Krause don’t tangle in the closing laps the ending could have been much different.
But forget all that. How about we view this race as just one link in a chain of excellence for Hirschman. Is not getting swept up in the tangle that handed him the lead pure luck or does he position himself to minimize bad consequences he sees coming? Not getting swept up happens too often for it to be purely good luck.
It’s human nature to root against a consistent winner. Perhaps implying his equipment isn’t always Kosher or his formula for winning a little too routine. But if you can take your bias hat off for a second and be perfectly objective it’s clear. Hirschman who has campaigned in three different cars in 2023 has no peer in the current era of active drivers. By the time his career is over he may prove to be the best of all time but that debate will wait to a future point in time.
Different series, different venues and distances his cars are brutally efficient, he finishes races and wins. Owner, driver, fabricator, setup he does is all he’s a pure racer.

The guy is a fantastic race car driver.. Rarely makes a mistake and has a great crew in the pits… His Father was a multi- time Nascar Modified Champion and was strong at NHIS & Thompson, I would like to see BIG MONEY WIN at those 2 tracks… I believe He could in the RIGHT CAR … Just a thought…. Thompson has not been kind to Matt & there are quite a few races at Thompson he could get dialed in at this year … Also Thompson is having 3 Nascar Mod Tour Races and quite a few Tour Type shows so there is plenty of opportunities for Matt to add the HIGH BANKS to his very impressive WIN LIST that just keeps growing…To go out and Win on the 5/8ths and 1 mile tracks would only add to the Impressive resume …
