ACT & PASS Announce 604 Modifieds Added to Northeast Classic At NHMS

(Press Release from American-Canadian Tour)

Officials from the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) announced on Wednesday that with the continued support and numerous calls fielded by the two organizations for the new Sunoco 604 Modified Division at Thompson Speedway, the new division has been added to the Northeast Classic line-up for Saturday, April 13th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Both ACT Managing Partner Cris Michaud and PASS President Tom Mayberry have received numerous calls and hosted multiple conversations with teams across Southern New England looking to support the new Sunoco 604 Modified division at Thompson Speedway in 2024. At the Thompson banquet last Friday, SK Light Modified champion Alexander Pearl stated his intentions to field a 604 Modified at times during the season, as did Sunoco Modified champion Troy Talman.

The 604 Modifieds now join the Thunder and Lightning of New England at the Northeast Classic with the American-Canadian Tour, PASS Super Late Models and Open Tour-type Modifieds. The R&R Race Parts NH Street Stock Series also returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway as officials continue to lock down planning for the weekend over the coming weeks.

“With the support we’re getting, Cris and I wanted to show our commitment to the 604 Modifieds,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “I know we’re both excited for the venture, and it seems many teams are as well so showcasing them at Loudon became a no-brainer as this idea continues to gain traction this winter.”

ACT and PASS will release a full division line-up and Northeast Classic forms for teams in the coming weeks. The 4th annual Northeast Classic at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will once again showcase the biggest and best full-fendered and open-wheel stars of the Northeast on its biggest stage! Saturday, April 13th will launch the 2024 American-Canadian Tour championship season as the Pro All Stars Series is coming off the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway and the 50th Icebreaker Weekend at Thompson Speedway.

  1. I think it’s great to schedule these 604 races but have not seen any purses. the money has to be there to attract competitors

  2. Well there must be a pretty good response from interested teams for Mr’s Mayberry and Michaud to add them to the Loudon show… THANK_YOU SIRS!! More Modified reasons to make that event, COOL! I couldn’t make the last 2, made it to the previous 2, hoping I can get to this one!

  3. I’m just glad this event keeps coming back

  4. Might as well take the 604’s on tour! Wonder if anyone has tried that before…

I believe the New Hampshire tracks run the 604 crates at Monadnock & other tracks already, so there should be plenty of Cars at NHIS. I think it was overdue for a 604 Crate Modified Division. Seekonk runs the 604 crate in the Pro Stocks and they perform great… As long as they have a good final drive gear rule for each track along with a 6500 rpm rev limiter rule these engines are Excellent Engine everywhere they run…. I am really looking forward to this new division & hope it takes off … Especially at the HIGH BANKS of Thompson Speedway….

  6. Interesting that Monadnock incorporates the 602 with 604’s in it’s modified division with weight compensation ala the NHSTRA rules last year. ACT/Pass just the 604 with an iron clad rev limit of 6400 and claiming rule. Pretty simple, has to be a 604 bottle cap sealed engine the only exception being add 50lbs if they aren’t PASS seals.
My question is if this is the standard now for ACT/Pass Late Models and the new modified division how does LCM Racing Engines keep up with the volume and all those break ins?

Louie Mechalides of LCM racing engines has been around a long time..He’s up in Tyngsboro , Ma . He has been a Car Owner & Driver and Winner many times.. The last several years he has been the Car Owner who put Derek Griffith of Hudson NH on the MAP with Super Late Model Wins from Florida to Maine… Believe me Louie can get the job done easily.. All he has to do is maybe change the oil pan and pick up tube.. Put in your distributor and carb put on dyno and it’s ready for pick up… Louie came to Seekonk and grabbed the Money in the DAV open Pro- Stock Show as a Driver , Only to return years later and take the 10k to win Pro- stock open shows with Derek Griffith as the hot shoe… I believe Dolly is Derek’s spotter for Louies Super Late Model Rides …..Louie’s massive experience building Engines and Being a Driver himself has really helped launch Derek from 4 cylinders at Hudson Speedway to Winning Features at some of the most storied tracks in the Northeast and beyond… Hell yeah Louie can get er done….
