Sources: NHMS To Host Whelen Modified Tour For July 2021 Event

New Hampshire Motor Speedway will be on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule for the 2021 season.

Multiple sources have confirmed to RaceDayCT that NHMS management and NASCAR have to come to an agreement as of today for the track to host a 100-lap Whelen Modified Tour event on July 17, 2021.

The Whelen Modified Tour event will run as part of the NHMS Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 NASCAR Cup Series weekend. NHMS will host the NASCAR XFinity Series Lakes Region 200 on Saturday July 17, 2021 and the Cup Series Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 on Sunday July 18, 2021.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway executive vice president and general manager David McGrath was not immediately available for comment Friday afternoon. As of earlier this week, NASCAR and NHMS had not come to an agreement on a July event for the Whelen Modified Tour in Loudon.

There had been concerns that the Whelen Modified Tour would not run an event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2021. The Whelen Modified Tour has raced at NHMS every year since 1990.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway management announced last month that their September Full Throttle Weekend, which featured the Whelen Modified Tour Musket 250 in 2018 and 2019 and the Musket 200 in 2020, will not return in 2021.

For the 2021 season, NASCAR has announced Whelen Modified Tour events at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway (April 8), Lancaster (N.Y) Speedway on July 31 and Richmond Raceway (Sept. 10). Stafford Speedway has announced three Whelen Modified Tour events for 2021 on April 25, Aug. 6 and Sept. 25. Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway management has confirmed that they will have two events on the Whelen Modified Tour schedule next year. Jennerstown (Pa.) Speedway and Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway are each expected to host one Whelen Modified Tour event next year. It’s unclear when NASCAR will announce a full 2021 Whelen Modified Tour schedule.

  1. AWESOME!!!! Best race of the weekend for sure.

  2. On the calendar. 🤞

Of course this was going to happen. Just a matter of time before it was announced.

  3. Best race of the YEAR regardless of track or series.

If you told me 2 months ago NHMS, Martinsville and Richmond were on the schedule I’d be a happy camper. So, I’m a happy camper now.

  4. Nice..!! Glad they have it on a Saturday so people can see it… Now all the People who were upset over the possibility of not having a Race, can now SUPPORT the Tour by Showing up for Saturday and enjoy TWO RACES or buy it on NBC SPORTS GOLD and enjoy it at Home.. Hopefully Newman, Harvick, Preece and Santos can all race with the MOD SQUAD and put on a Fantastic Show….

  5. Fast Eddie says

Well, that makes 4 New England WMT races so far… With the demise of Full Throttle Weekend, it’s nice to know what will now be the BEST one of the year is back on the schedule. May NASCAR give it the premium treatment it deserves!!

  6. When has it not been on a Saturday??? That was many moons ago. Maybe the 1990s? The All Star race was the only Friday show recently. I’ve heard that a few times today and I don’t understand that comment. I’ve been there for almost every one and it’s been a long long time since it wasn’t on a Saturday.

That Sunday is the beginning of the long break for Cup. If Preece doesn’t take his lovely bride somewhere nice he could be around for the SBM 125, Lancaster and even Stafford possibly.

Looks like our first major conflict of the season just arrived.

  7. Up until 2007 or ’08 the WMT race was held on Friday.

  8. Oh the poor tour they have no races here done investigation every day, it’s Nascars fault bla bla.

  9. STOP THE COUNT!!!!!

    STOP THE COUNT!!!!!

  10. 🌈JD🌈, I expect you to keep me updated as to the status of crowd size allowed for this event.

  11. Sharpie Fan says

    Woo hoo!

    OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  13. The Atomic Punk says

The Tour!!!!!……Its 12:19am and Joe Biden has been sleeping for over 5 hours.

  14. Jennerstown General Manage Bill Hribar
“The Tour plans on releasing their full schedule next week hopefully.”

Hey Mr. Wilson. What other rabbit are you going to be pulling out of the hat.
    Oswego still a likely.
Predictions of the NWMT’s death highly exaggerated.
    Flasks up!!

  15. “Its 12:19am and Joe Biden has been sleeping for over 5 hours.”

Sorry Punk but that may be why the guy won in part. Relief from nightly tweet storms.

  16. James Scott says

    SUPPORT it people!

  17. The Tour!!!!!

It’s 11:06 AM on December 5, 2020, and Trump has been a loser for well over 60 years.

  18. So where do we go from here? Monadnock suggested there weren’t a whole lot of dates left to play with. We now know the usual suspects won’t be on the schedule. I assume Riverhead will take their standard dates.
    Oswego on Labor day weekend.

By my count there are a whole lot of available weekends in June,July and August. It sounds like there are more races to be announced. I know the Oxford on Aug 28th rumor was out there. Maybe? I kind of doubt it myself now. Beech Ridge maybe? NY? A second Oswego event? PA? Lake Erie? It will be interesting.

Kind of funny all the WMT haters disappeared yesterday when two events were added to the schedule for 2021.

  19. Seekonk has released their schedule.

Come for the schedules, stay for the coronavirus.

  20. The Atomic Punk says

Yes Dawannabe. Going to the Track. Its what race fans do. You would not understand.

  21. I’d agree with the idea that there is a bunch of open dates and that more could come. At any time even after the season has started.
There’s no reason for the either the NWMT detractors or the NWMT firsters to to be crowing about how right they were.
What is happening is all pretty right in the middle. Neither ideal for NASCAR nor evidence of a fade to irrelevance.
Two modified races a the NHMS. Twice the number predicted. Cool beans.
    Flasks up!!!

  22. 🌈JD🌈 wrote, “So where do we go from here?”

    That’s obvious.

Pretty simple, Biden will have to do what he did after the Cheney-GW Bush regime collapse. Cheney-GW Bush destroyed the economy, and Biden ran the recovery program for President Obama. Worked out pretty good. Trump has been riding the momentum of the strong and robust Obama-Biden economy. Biden is a perfect solution for the mess left behind by the Trump disaster.

  23. Doug, where do you see two races at NHMS? I read the article twice and only see one on July 17th?

  24. Well this is certainly welcome news. The tour belongs at NHMS. I am glad they got it done.

  25. wmass01013 says

Again with the Virus still VERY ACTIVE tracks are not willing to take the steps to commit and i am SURE Jimmy Wilson will continue to try even after the season starts to schedule races LIKE THIS YEAR, so to alll the haters i say go hate somewhere ELSE and let those of US who do not try to bury NASCAR every POST on here RIGHT ROB P

  26. Thanks Doug.

  27. I received an advertisement about the gift of lights display at the Speedway. Christmas lights are great however, how about the gift of lights for racing events? When is this track going to take the bull by the horns and work with the town? At least schedule a date where its not a hundred degrees out. NHMS needs to wake up before its to late, unless its being set up to fail and we lose the last cup date, Imagine the modifieds and the cup cars at night!

  28. It’s 9:20 am and Trump is still a loser.

  29. 🌈🦄2020 says

It was 9:20 am and the only thing on Rob p’s mind was Donald Trump 🤣🤣. Poor guy. In other news congrats to Jake Johnson for his win at the snowflake 100 yesterday. Yes, that Jake Johnson. Rob or Dafella should have seen the crowd down there. A bunch of maskless idiots. Super spreader event for sure😮.
