Polling Place: Looking Back After 10 Winners Find Victory Lane In SK Modifieds In 2021 At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD – Year after year the SK Modified division at Stafford Speedway proves to be one of the most competitive and deepest weekly divisions at any short track in America.

The 2021 season proved once again just how competitive and deep the roster is at Stafford.

In Friday’s season ending 40-lap SK Modified feature it was David Arute becoming the 10th different winner in 20 regular feature events this year at Stafford.

Other winners over the season included 2021 SK Modified champion Todd Owen, Stephen Kopcik, Mike Christopher Jr., Tyler Hines, Keith Rocco, Bryan Narducci, Ronnie Williams, Andrew Molleur and Chase Dowling.

Let’s look back on some polls we did concerning the subject matter at Stafford.

The season opened with five different SK Modified winners in the first five events On May 24, after there were five winners in the first five events of the season, we asked readers how many winners there would be in the SK Modified division at Stafford in 2021.

In the poll 31.7 percent of the voters said there would be eight winners in 2021, with 23.8 percent voting for seven. Nine winners earned 15.3 percent of the vote.

Only 13.7 percent of the voters in the poll thought there would be 10 winners in the SK Modified division in 2021.

Hines, Narducci and Arute were first-time winners in the division in 2021.

After Narducci became the second first-time winner on June 18 we asked voters who would be the next first-time winner in the division.

Marcello Rufrano led the way in the poll garnering 38 percent of the votes. Arute, who eventually became the next first-time winner, got seven percent of the votes in the poll.

On July 31 Owen became the eighth winner overall in the division in 2021. Following that we asked again how many winners there would be in the division in 2021. The poll proved to know the future with 33 percent of voters saying there would be 10 winners in 2021. Twenty-four percent of the voters said there would be nine winners for second place in the poll.

On Aug. 20 Andrew Molleur became the ninth different SK Modified division winner in 2021. Once again we asked the question of how many winners there would be in the division in 2021. And once the poll proved prophetic with 39 percent saying there would be 10 winners in 2021.

After Molleur’s win we also asked readers who they thought had the best chance to become the 10th different winner at the track in 2021. Marcello Rufrano led the way in the poll garnering 27 percent of the votes, with Woody Pitkat getting 26 percent. Arute, who would ultimately become that 10th different winner, got four percent of the votes in the poll.
