The 2016 season for Tony Membrino Jr. has been a year of stockpiling SK Light Modified victories from Stafford Motor Speedway, the New London-Waterford Speedbowl and Thompson Speedway.
And along the way the Berlin driver has also been grabbing plenty of fuel to keep those laps turning.
Saturday at Stafford Motor Speedway Membrino won the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature at the NAPA Fall Final at the track. The victory clinched his second championship in the division and third overall at the track. And for the fifth time this season Membrino reaped the spoils from fans in securing the New England Racing Fuel Support Performer of the Week Award.
Membrino collected 94 of the 227 votes cast this week (41.4 percent).
Johnny Walker of Ludlow, Mass., who won Saturday’s DARE Stock feature at Stafford to clinch his first track championship, was seccond in the voting with 82 votes (36.1 percent).
Each week during the 2016 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Support Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in one of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly support divisions (excludes SK Modified divisions) at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.
Membrino will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel.
